It’s June, and what better way to start the summer than by welcoming a new Senior Director? We’re very happy to have Juan Pablo Perez-Sangimino, who goes by JP, join the Klaros team - he’ll be working on licensing, bank design, and stablecoin strategies.
JP comes to us with significant experience at both the Federal Reserve, where he served as a Senior Policy Analyst for the Innovation Policy team focusing on banking, financial stability, and emerging financial technologies. and the OCC, where he served as a Staff Attorney.
More importantly, he brings deep experience and curiosity about what’s possible in financial innovation. Throughout his career, JP has contributed to research and policy discussions on how innovations in payments and financial infrastructure intersect with regulation and systemic risk. At the Fed, his work centered on analyzing risks in the financial system, including developments in digital assets, stablecoins, and “money-like” financial products. He recently co-authored an interesting piece on “Banks in the Age of Stablecoins” that compared stablecoins to other major disruptors, including money market funds in the 1970s and online payment platforms in the 1990s. He has also collaborated on several blog posts discussing “The Emergence of Tokenized Investment Funds and Their Use Cases”, and introduced “A Framework for Understanding the Vulnerabilities of New Money-Like Products,” including tokenized MMFs and stablecoins. We know he’ll be a great addition to the team.
Want to chat about risks and opportunities for your business in light of the current environment’s implications for bank licensing, innovation, regulation, or related topics? We’d love to hear from you. Send us a note at hello@klaros.com.
