Welcome, Daniel Bley!

We say this every year and have for several years and it’s still true: it’s never been a tougher time to be a bank. And while Klaros’ work has evolved and expanded over the past five years to encompass challenges from bank charters to stablecoin products, a big chunk of our work continues to be with banks. While the threat of enforcement orders has receded, banks still face major strategic challenges, notably including adaptation to the brave new world of AI, and risks of disintermediation presented by stablecoins. That’s why we’re thrilled to welcome Daniel Bley as a senior advisor. His decades of experience in leadership positions at banking institutions of all sizes will make his perspective and counsel extremely valuable for Klaros clients.

Daniel Bley recently retired as Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer of Webster Financial Corp. and Webster Bank, where he managed the bank's enterprise risk functions, including operating, compliance, and regulatory risk, as well as Credit risk management and Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering and fraud programs. He joined Webster in August 2010. Prior to that, Daniel worked at Royal Bank of Scotland ("RBS") as managing director of the Financial Institutions Credit Group and at ABN AMRO as Group Senior Vice President, Head of Financial Institutions and Trading Credit Risk Management.  He earned his bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the London Business School.

Daniel currently serves as senior advisor to the Mid-Sized Bank Coalition of America (MBCA), an alliance representing mid-size banks across the U.S., as a board member of Junior Achievement of New York, and as an advisor to the National Council of Financial Educators (NFEC).
