Mike Kirk
Mike Kirk focuses on bank strategy and design.
Mike is a veteran financial services entrepreneur, executive, and bank regulator with more than four decades of experience spanning banking supervision, financial markets, derivatives trading, risk management, technology, and leadership.
He joins us from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), where he led large multidisciplinary teams responsible for supervising complex banking activities across capital markets, operations, technology, valuation, and risk management. Among other contributions, Mike served on the Inter-Agency Volcker Rule Working Group and, following the JPMorgan Chase "London Whale" incident, helped redesign OCC supervision of the bank’s investment activities. More recently, he focused on stablecoin policy, including developing proposed rules and reserve asset management criteria for permitted payment stablecoin issuers.
Earlier in his career, Mike co-launched and co-managed the Sempra Alpha Fund, a commodities- and equities-focused hedge fund, and held senior leadership and trading positions at AIG Trading Group, Chemical Bank, and Westpac Banking Corporation, where he built and managed derivatives businesses, developed sophisticated risk management systems, traded complex fixed-income and interest-rate derivatives, and led business turnarounds.
Mike holds a BS in Management and an MBA in Finance from St. John's University.
